Lutsen Resort offers ownership opportunities to those wishing to purchase Lake Superior real estate. Enjoy owning your own Lake Superior getaway with none of the problems of home ownership. Lutsen Resort will market, manage and rent your vacation home when you are not using it.

As a member of the "Lutsen Resort Family" of Lake Superior rental owners, you and your guests will enjoy the use of all our resort amenities that make Lutsen Resort such a special destination.

We have log cabins, Cliff house townhomes, lakeside Sea Villa townhomes and luxury Poplar River condominiums, all with spectacular views of the lake, available for ownership.

Visitors to Lake Superior often fall in love with the area and dream of owning a place “on the shore”. There are many good reasons to purchase a Lutsen Resort property:

It’s a fabulous spot: There is a reason this spot was chosen over 125 years ago… it’s spectacular! We’ve got the best beach on the North Shore and lots of open space. We are tucked away from the noise and commotion of highway 61. The Superior National Golf Course is adjacent as is the best downhill skiing in the Midwest, Lutsen Mountains, just minutes away. The paved Gitchi Gammi State Trail has a 12 mile section that runs right by Lutsen Resort.

History and tradition: Our resort has a unique atmosphere. With roots back to 1885, the history and tradition of Lutsen Resort provides “old world charm” with just the right balance of contemporary amenities and luxuries.

Commitment to green practices, sense of place, community: The National Geographic Traveler Magazine recognized Lutsen Resort on its “Stay List” for location inspired architecture, eco-stewardship and an ethic of giving back to the community. Lutsen Resort has many green initiatives: recycling, water & energy conservation, composting, use of kitchen grease for bio-diesel fuel and high-tech septic systems including wetlands treatment.

How does the rental pool work? Lutsen Resort will market, rent, maintain and manage your unit as if it were our own. The rental income is evenly divided between the owner and the Resort, after credit card expenses.

Are there restrictions on owner use? Each year we create a Prime Time Calendar, which identifies approximately 90 days each year of peak expected use. Rental pool owners can use their units up to 30 days during this prime time. There is no limit during the remainder of the year (275 days).

Are there any costs when I use my unit? There is a charge to cover Lutsen Resort staff expenses for housekeeping and laundry at the end of your stay.

What costs is an owner responsible for? Lutsen Resort is responsible for the primary operating costs (marketing, front desk, housekeeping, laundry, etc.) while owners are responsible for the costs associated with ownership such as insurance, utilities, association dues, real estate taxes, unit repairs and maintenance of the unit to quality standards.

Is there any storage area for my personal items? All units have locked storage space within them, which only owners can access.

Can we (and our guests) use the Resort amenities and the complimentary guest activities? All owners and guests are welcome to use the general amenities of the Resort such as the beach, pool, shuffleboard and pitch and putt golf course. Your unit must be in the rental pool to use our complimentary activities as those are supported by a fee on guest rental.
