Lake Superior Charter Fishing

Charter fishing on Lake Superior is an amazing experience.  You'll troll along the rugged North shore, seeing the shore from a vantage point few North Shore travelers experience.

For those guests wishing to sample charter fishing, Lutsen Resort has worked out a deal with Tofte Charters.  This is a great way for smaller groups or individuals to enjoy a charter without having to rent the whole boat.  Participants are required to provide a MN fishing license with a trout stamp. One day licenses are available on the boat for $9.50. Make reservations through the resort front desk (the 1 week sign up policy does not apply to this activity, you can sign up any time).  You'll need to drive to the boat launch at Taconite harbor by 7:45 AM.  The boat will leave at 8AM and return at 11AM.

Tofte Charters has very comfortable boats and United States Coast Guard licensed captains.  You will want to bring outdoor clothing. Remember that the temperature is typically a few degrees cooler on the lake.  Rainwear is also recommended if there is rain in the forecast.  You are welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages on the boat.

Lake Superior lake trout fishing is a great experience for all ages.  You certainly need no experience to have a good time.  Although Lake Trout is the primary species caught, salmon are a possible catch as well!  You are able to keep the fish that you choose and the captain
will take care of the filleting process for you.
